Well, I miss the Philly WizardWorld comic con, and it looks like there isn’t going to be one in NY. I was planning on having the novel, light novel, some posters, and shirts completed, to hand out to customers and vendors. Next year, is when I plan on vending myself, but as of right now, I’m way behind schedule. One of the reasons, is that, well, I’m a teacher, and I have to find time to spend with family, friends, etc. I know, to be a successful businessman, you kind of have to limited your social life, but after the struggles of a divorce, changing careers, and finances, I just want to be able to have fun.
So, I’m feeling sick today and with the AnimeNext convention coming June 12, it’s time to really start editing. I was thinking two chapters a day, which would give me time to publish the calendar, poster, and make shirts. If I can stick with this schedule, it also gives the editor I’m paying, more time to finish. I’m releasing Favor of Ares: Lust as a novel and light novel, most likely through Lulu. They will be available on Amazon and at Barnes & Noble.
Art style is starting to come around. I have several people, who, when they see my style, can see the anime/manga influence. That’s a success, because before, my art was influenced more by western comic books, and then only by looking at someone else’s drawing. I’m at the point now, where with the cartooning and manga backgrounds, I’m making my own poses.
For the novel I need to find a cover. The light novel adaptation will remain the same, but Theo/Whisper is going to be in a more dynamic action pose and I might include Elisa/Ricochet too. For the logo, I think I’m going to hire a designer, lettering design, isn’t one of my skills.
As far as editing on my own. I have ditched the tarot and chess motifs for the ghosts and automatons respectively. As a whole each “group” is now based on a certain aspect of the zodiac, which still ties into the Greek mythology of the series. I’ve also been researching the mental disorders again.
Inspiration, these days, I’m watching SoulEater(genre/setting/art style),Fairy Tail(character study), PsychoPass(tone), and Darker Than Black(tone/setting). The latter two, I watch, to set the tone of my series. If, by chance, it gets an anime/cartoon adaptation, I want it to be similar to those two series. I’m also rereading Anita Blake: Guilty Pleasures (pacing/tone/genre) and Heroes of Olympus (POV).
I have 32 days, if I start today, to finish a day before the convention. Obviously, I need time for the books to ship, so truthfully I have 25 days and 30 chapters to edit on my own, Well it’s time to get to work.
